Τελικά η Valve, σύμφωνα με πρόσφατη ανακοίνωση, αποφάσισε να διαθέσει τον τίτλο της, απολύτως δωρεάν, ενώ δεν θα υπάρχουν κλειδωμένοι ήρωες που θα πρέπει να αγοραστούν. Ολόκληρο το περιεχόμενο θα είναι διαθέσιμο και δεν θα απαιτεί πληρωμή.

Ανακοινώθηκε επίσης η δημιουργία του επίσημου Dota Store, το οποίο θα ανοίξει πριν από το λανσάρισμα του παιχνιδιού, σε κάποια στιγμή μέσα στο 2012. Σε αυτό το μαγαζί, θα διατίθενται προς πώληση αντικείμενα που έχει φτιάξει τόσο ο developer, αλλά και το ίδιο το community! Η ενεργή συμμετοχή της κοινότητας στο δημιουργικό κομμάτι, με αυτόν τον πανέξυπνο τρόπο, είναι σίγουρα κάτι το ενθαρρυντικό και μας θυμίζει πόσο κοντά βρίσκεται η Valve στο κοινό της.
